This Privacy Policy explains how Seeker RSS ("App") handles information. The App is published by Domenico Capogreco ("Publisher", "we", "us", or "our"). Seeker RSS is designed primarily as a client-side RSS reader. Much of the information you use in the App is stored locally on your device. We do not operate a behavioral advertising network for the App, and we do not sell personal data.
§ 1

Summary

Because the App connects to feeds and optional third-party RSS backends, some information is necessarily transmitted to those services when you choose to use them.

§ 2

Information the App Processes

Depending on how you use the App, the App may collect, access, store, or process the following categories of information on your device or in transit:

A — Information you provide directly
  • RSS feed URLs, website URLs, and feed search keywords;
  • account names or configuration labels you create inside the App;
  • optional credentials and connection settings for supported third-party or self-hosted RSS services;
  • OPML files you import or export;
  • preferences such as theme, layout, notification, and reading settings.
B — Content you choose to access
  • RSS feed metadata;
  • article titles, summaries, content, publication dates, thumbnails, and source links;
  • icons, images, and other content returned by the feeds or websites you access.
C — Technical and device-related information
  • basic network request information necessary to reach feeds and services, such as IP-address-level routing data visible to the services you contact;
  • cached files and local database records required for offline reading, syncing, and performance;
  • notification settings and sync state.
§ 3

How Information Is Used

The App uses information to:

  • fetch, display, organize, and update RSS content;
  • synchronize with optional third-party or self-hosted RSS accounts that you connect;
  • import and export your subscriptions via OPML;
  • provide optional notifications for new unread articles;
  • improve readability and full-content parsing for articles where supported; and
  • maintain App preferences and local account state on your device.
§ 4

Feed Search and Third-Party Discovery

If you use the RSS source search feature, the search keyword you enter may be sent to a third-party feed discovery service to return matching feed results.

At the time of writing, the App's feed discovery implementation uses an external feed search endpoint. Your use of that feature means your search terms are disclosed to that provider as needed to fulfill your request.

§ 5

Third-Party RSS Services and Content Sources

The App can optionally connect to third-party or self-hosted services such as Fever, Google Reader compatible services, and FreshRSS. When you choose to connect such a service:

  • the App may store the connection settings and credentials locally on your device;
  • the App will send requests to that service on your behalf; and
  • the connected service provider may receive your IP address, request headers, and account-related request data.

Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy notices and terms, not this Privacy Policy.

§ 6

Local Storage

The App primarily stores data locally on your device, including:

  • subscription lists;
  • article metadata and cached content;
  • account configuration;
  • imported OPML data;
  • preferences and settings.

This local storage is used so the App can function properly, including offline and multi-account workflows.

§ 7

Account Deletion and Data Deletion

The App provides a way to delete accounts from within the App.

When you delete an account in the App, locally stored App data associated with that account can be removed from the device, subject to technical or lawful retention needs. However, the deletion does not automatically delete your separate account with an external RSS provider.

If you want a third-party or self-hosted provider to delete your account or server-side data, you must use that provider's own deletion method. You can also reduce stored App data by uninstalling the App and removing local account data before uninstalling, where available.

§ 8

Minors

The App is not directed to children, and we do not intentionally seek to collect personal data from minors in violation of applicable law. If you believe a minor has provided information in a manner that requires removal under applicable law, contact us at capogrecodomenico@proton.me.

§ 9

Regulated or Sensitive Data

The App is not intended for the collection of highly sensitive or regulated personal data such as government identification numbers, health records, payment card data, precise geolocation, biometric data, or similar regulated data categories unless a user independently chooses to place such information into a feed or external service outside our control.

Users should not use the App to store or transmit sensitive regulated data unless they are satisfied that doing so is lawful and appropriately protected.

§ 10

Sharing of Information

We do not sell personal data.

Information may be disclosed or made available in the following limited ways:

  • to RSS feeds, websites, and external services you explicitly choose to access through the App;
  • to infrastructure or network intermediaries as technically required to deliver internet traffic;
  • if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or valid governmental request;
  • if reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or investigate abuse.
§ 11

Security

We use reasonable measures within the App's design to protect locally stored information. However, no device, application, storage system, or internet transmission is completely secure.

You are responsible for securing your device, using trusted feeds and service providers, protecting your connected service credentials, and deleting or rotating credentials if you suspect compromise.

§ 12

International Data Transfers

Because the App can connect to internet resources and third-party services worldwide, information you choose to access or transmit through the App may be processed in countries other than your own, subject to the practices of the services you use.

§ 13

Legal Basis and Rights

Where applicable law such as the GDPR applies, the typical legal bases for processing are: performance of the service you request when the App fetches content or connects to services you configure; your consent where you voluntarily enable optional features or provide optional data; and legitimate interests in maintaining App security, integrity, and basic functionality, where permitted by law.

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or port certain personal data. The practical way to exercise some rights may be deleting content or accounts in the App, uninstalling the App, or contacting the relevant third-party service provider directly.

§ 14

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date when changes are made and, where reasonably practicable, make the updated version available through the App, an associated website, repository, or store listing.
